Acupuncture

For over 3,000 years acupuncture treatments have been used for comprehensive health care issues, especially pain.

In 1997, the National Institutes of Health issued a consensus statement acknowledging acupuncture’s efficacy in adult post operative and chemotherapy nausea and vomiting, and in post operative dental pain.  Addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headache, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and asthma also showed benefit by acupuncture as an acceptable alternative or as an adjunct treatment according to the NIH.

Further research continues to acknowledge other areas in which acupuncture excels.  Treatment is generally painless and comfortable.  Acupuncture is now governed by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners’ Acupuncture Advisory Committee.  By the use of needles, heat, cupping, gua sha, magnets, and other treatment modalities, acupuncture is able to enhance the body’s own natural balancing mechanisms establishing greater health and relieving illness.

Aromatic Medicine

Aromatic botanicals are extracted using steam distillation (essential oils and hydrosols), mechanical separation (expressed oils), and chemical solvents (absolutes and CO2 extracts) producing volatile and non-volatile (fixed) compounds which may be used for therapeutic, cosmeceutical, and culinary benefits long known to offer mental, physical, and spiritual healing properties.  Several stock blends are available.  Custom formulas are also produced for individual patient care as needed.

Chinese Stone Medicine

Chinese Stone Medicine goes back centuries at least to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.) when Li Shizhen, the great naturalist and physician whose Compendium of Materia Medica listed 1892 medicinal substances, including 355 entries for minerals and uses the rocks and minerals naturally created by the Earth for healing purposes. (Franks, 2016, p. xvii-xviii)

Stones are used in treatments as tools or on acupuncture points or placed around the body, worn as jewelry or carried on the person, or made into elixirs for their particular influence. Their effects are based on the mineral content of the stones used. Remember in chemistry each element is what it is based on the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in that element. Protons have a positive charge. Electrons have a negative charge. Neutrons have a neutral charge. So each stone has a particular energetic charge based on its unique content. Adding Stone Medicine to an acupuncture treatment or receiving a specific treatment using only Stone Medicine has shown wonderfully beneficial dimensions for many patients at Acupuncture Center. Speak with your practitioner about the experience and value of Chinese Stone Medicine.

Loomis Digestive Health Specialist

Digesting, transporting, absorbing, utilizing, and eliminating byproducts of nutrients are each essential to health.  Enzymes are the activating forces behind these body processes.  The body’s natural ability to produce these necessary enzymes diminishes with aging, disease, and stress (whether mechanical, nutritional, or emotional).  Blood chemistry interpretation, 24-hour urinalysis, and physical examination may all be combined to determine what body systems need additional support to function optimally.  Dietary analysis and recommendations will empower you to make better choices for yourself.  Foods you eat may either help or hinder your immune system.  Impressive benefits have been seen in numerous health issues using supplemental enzyme and herbal combinations.  Read ENZYMES: The Key to Health by Howard F. Loomis, Jr., D.C., and The Enzyme Cure by Lita Lee, Ph.D, for more information.

Compassionate Inquiry

Compassionate Inquiry is an approach developed by Dr. Gabor Mate to help clients “recognize the unconscious dynamics that run their lives and how to liberate themselves from them”.

“We all long to be seen, heard, understood, and loved. We heal when we feel safe in relationship, connected to our bodies, our breath, the present moment, and one another. Only when we experience the connection to ourselves and others, can we open up to our vulnerability and emotions, and discover and express what is true for us. This expression is what heals us.”

“The process of Compassionate Inquiry invites us to look at the stories we tell ourselves unconsciously, and how these stories direct our lives, affect our health, and generate suffering. Once we recognize the beliefs we have been carrying and where they originated, we can question their validity. Once questioned, we can open to the possibility of releasing them, and the hold they have on us. A new way of being emerges, leading to spontaneity, choice, expansion, and freedom.”

“Compassionate Inquiry is a program that has evolved from Dr. Gabor Maté’s personal journey and his experience of 20 years working with patients through family practice, palliative care, addiction, and trauma.”

Massage Therapy

Massage has proved to be an effective treatment for the body and mind for over 5,000 years.  Today most of us find ourselves in a truly high stress environment.  The many demands of everyday life and our desire to squeeze every ounce of energy from it leaves us all on edge.

The benefits of massage have provided many with immediate improvement in mind and body, decreased blood pressure and heart rate, less muscle fatigue and tension as well as improved cognition.  Other physical benefits often include relaxed muscles and nervous system, improved digestion and elimination of waste products.  The largest organ in the human body, your skin, will get softer and be cleaned of dead skin tissue.  Lower back and leg pain, in most cases, will see immediate relief.

A wonderful gift you can give yourself or someone you care about is a massage from a trained professional.  Call today to schedule an appointment with a licensed massage therapist.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation, and to promote healing. It is a spiritual practice used for thousands of years.

Reiki was rediscovered by MiKai Usui in 1922 and later brought to the Western world by Hawayo Hiromi Tamara.

It is a form of energy medicine based on the theory of everything (including us!) being made up of energy. Illness, stress, and many other factors can cause energy to become stuck within our bodies and create low energy flow throughout the body.

Reiki works to create a free flowing of energy throughout the body and chakras (your energy centers.)
