How does acupuncture work?
Qi is an Oriental term loosely translated as vital energy. Qi occurs in both yin (feminine, cold, wet) and yang (masculine, hot, dry) forms. Acupuncture works to effect the flow of Qi through the meridians and balance yin and yang within the body, thereby allowing the body to heal itself, eliminating pain and regulating organ functions.
What are the needles like?
Needles are pre-sterilized in individually sealed packages for single use only. Different from hollow-core hypodermic needles, acupuncture needles are solid, almost as fine as a human hair.
How long does a treatment last?
Generally, about one hour. However, length of treatment may vary according to patient’s symptoms and strategies used.
What should I wear for treatment?
Preferably a two piece outfit that can be adjusted to comfortably expose knees and elbows. Linens are available and will be used for modesty when necessary.
What age groups do you treat?
Acupuncture and other modalities offered may be used from newborn to elderly. (Non-insertion techniques are used on infants and children under age seven.) Check with your practitioner about the services where they specialise and ages they treat.
Does the patient need to believe in acupuncture or reiki to receive the benefits?
No. Just try for yourself and notice the health improvements you receive. Many are skeptical when they’ve found no relief from other therapeutic interventions but often they’re very pleased when they find relief after deciding to try acupuncture.
